The Queen's Corgi ornament

At the Silver Basket we are offering the chance to own a Limited Edition silver Pembroke Welsh Corgi ornament bearing the Platinum Jubilee hallmark of the late Queen Elizabeth II. We are honoured to be the only silver company stocking this unique silver corgi ornament.

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi was the favourite breed of our late Queen Elizabeth II. On the crown coin for the Golden Jubilee an image of the queen and one of her corgis so it felt fitting to dedicate one of our sterling silver corgis to Queen Elizabeth II.

The first corgi to be welcomed to the royal household in 1933 was Dookie. Dookie was followed by a succession of dogs.

The next to arrive was Jane, followed by Crackers and Susan. All further royal corgis were descendants of Susan. Queen Elizabeth vowed to stop breeding and owning Corgis as she became older stating that she didn’t want any to survive her in the event of her death. However such was her delight in this small breed that she was never without her little Welsh companions.

The two corgis that survived Queen Elizabeth II now live at the Royal Lodge on the Windsor Estate.

Pembroke Welsh Corgis are very loyal and affectionate little dogs, however there are several records of the Royal Corgis giving a sharp nip now and again. They are known for the intelligence and excel at agility and were originally bred as cattle herding dogs. Although Corgis are not often seen in the UK they are very popular in the USA.

In honour of Queen Elizabeth II we have a limited number of sterling silver Pembroke Welsh Corgi figures for sale – exclusive to the Silver Basket. Each corgi is stamped with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee hallmark. This hallmark was withdrawn from use on 9th September 2022 out of respect to Queen Elizabeth, making our fabulous Corgis highly collectable items. We are proud to have them as part of our silver animal ornaments.

Queen Elizabeth II was our longest reigning monarch, devoting 70 years to our country. She became Queen in 1952 and continued with dedication until 8th September 2022.

The Platinum Jubilee hallmark celebrates 70 years of service and is only the 7th commemorative hallmark to be sanctioned in hundreds of years of hallmarking.

Our sterling silver Corgi is a fine example of craftsmanship. He is handcrafted in England by time served silversmiths and carefully buffed to give that wonderful silver sheen. The attention to detail on this corgi model is quite outstanding. His fur is intricately etched and his expression is one of alert charm and intelligence. This model is one of a limited edition bearing the now discontinued hallmark of Queen Elizabeth II platinum jubilee. This little corgi is a collector’s item and can only be found at the Silver Basket. He will arrive at your door in a dark blue gift box. A wooden plinth can be made for your corgi on request.
